Page 1: Overview of Using Scanning Software

When the cards start to arrive, getting the cards scanned and the data exported into your database becomes a high priority. It is important to have a methodology for scanning and exporting. The response file of the scanning software is static unless you do a New or Load operation. New entries are saved when input (scanned), and the file remains intact when the software is exited.

The software was designed with a great deal of flexibility for managing the response file. One advantage of the current version over previous versions is that an entry date is saved with the record when it is initially saved, and you can filter exported records by this date.

NRCCUA suggests the following simple methodology:

  1. Scan in reply cards on-hand.
  2. Export entries filtered on that session date.
  3. Save response file to maintain a backup.

As you receive more reply cards, you simply repeat this procedure, filtering the exported records by the sessions' entry date.
