The best way to transition is to be organized and have an open mind. College life brings many new responsibilities and freedoms, and you need to adjust and act accordingly. One definite item to put at the top of your list is to attend the orientation program being offered at the institution you will be attending. Orientation programs provide countless opportunities to meet other students, join clubs and organizations, learn to navigate your way around campus and buy books. Many will discuss services provided such as health care, banking, computer access and campus safety. Most colleges also provide an orientation program for new parents as well.
