Principal Analyst Technology Strategies

Job Function:

Eduventures, a division of NRCCUA is seeking a client-focused, analytical thinker who has a strong background in a wide-range of information technology (IT) products and services used by higher education institutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise designing and creating industry-leading IT thought leadership and research, be proficient at leading focused advising engagements for senior IT leaders at public and private institutions, and accustomed to viewing IT in a larger higher education context. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking to apply their experience at a fast-paced, professional research and advisory services organization.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients within higher education institutions on key strategic and operational IT decisions, which may include, but is not limited to:
    • Determining the technical requirements to meet required business specifications for a new IT product.
    • Understanding the potential challenges associated with implementation of a technology system.
    • Defining the success factors for the selection, acquisition, and implementation of a technology system.
  • Develop and deliver actionable, leading-edge recommendations about IT products and services for clients.
  • Collaborate with researchers and consultants to:
    • Manage research and data collection to analyze key IT trends and challenges facing leaders of higher education institutions.
    • Support client research advisors and client sales teams in establishing and maintaining client relationships.
    • Represent Eduventures at higher education and technology-related industry events and to the media.
    • Design and execute a thought leadership agenda through research, conference presentations, and webinars.
    • Manage and deliver client-sponsored research and consulting projects.

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Seven to ten years related work experience working for a technology provider serving the education market, working at a research/consulting firm, or working for a higher education institution.
  • Successful candidates will specifically have experience within one or more of the following areas: assessing the IT market, buying IT products and services, managing IT strategy for a higher education institution, or developing an education-focused technology product.
  • Strong analytical abilities and aptitude for using data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills: ability to clearly scope and frame issues.
  • A business-oriented mindset.
  • Well-developed client management skills: ability to solve problems creatively.

Product Manager

Job Function:

We’re looking for a Product Manager that reports to our VP of Product Management and works both with internal staff, and outside institutions to manage, evaluate, review and direct the production of NRCCUA’s products (in particular, our SaaS based platform that helps connect Institutions and students within the enrollment funnel process). This person is responsible for scanning the environment, listening to our enrollment consultants, and researching in efforts to recognize competitors, competing products and new opportunities. This individual’s input is necessary for creating and maintaining existing and new products of the organization. This position is responsible for working with IT, UX designer, and Sr. Leadership to provide new and updated functionality/usability. Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals. Performs a variety of complicated tasks. A wide degree of creativity, latitude, and empowerment is expected. This position requires teamwork, a willingness to step in and help the company be successful wherever necessary, and a passion for success.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for SaaS based enrollment management solutions including: enhancements, business requirements, updates, user experience, reporting/tracking, all aspects.
  • Product research, including: profit/loss reporting, competitive analysis, trends, forecasts, opportunities, threats, etc.
  • Develop product roadmaps, working with Members, Product Team, and Enrollment Consultants; present to Sr. Leadership Team for final signoff and support.
  • Work with marketing team to coordinate strategic marketing plans for each product.
  • Scan environment for competitive market, maintaining information, and documenting and reporting to management team.
  • Coordinate, budget, and scope new product ideas from conception stage to implementation.
  • Business scope, IT requirements, and proposals for potential projects.

Qualifications and Experience

  • 4+ year’s product management or product design experience.
  • Strong understanding and knowledge of data security and data management.
  • Experience working through the full software development lifecycle, specifically the Pragmatic Marketing Framework and Scrum.
  • Demonstrated success launching high quality solution in a software and service oriented company.
  • Excellent project management skills and experience managing multiple, large date-driven projects simultaneously.
  • Results-oriented with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams.
  • BA/BS in Computer Science, Information Systems or related technical field is ideal.
  • Experience in Ed Tech or the enrollment office is a strong plus.
  • Experience with online marketing is a strong plus.

Client Research Analyst

Job Function:

We are looking for a Client Research Analyst that will manage a portfolio of Eduventures vendor clients and deliver research and advisory services that align with client initiatives. In this role, the Client Research Analyst will develop an intimate understanding of research, data and analyst capabilities and will deliver those resources to clients in a creative, customized manner. The ideal candidate will also conduct small research projects for clients, in addition to managing all client sponsorships and marketing initiatives that are above and beyond the research and advisory subscription model. The role requires the individual to become a critical, need-to-have partner to our technology vendor clients. We seek individuals who are strong client advocates, skilled peer collaborators, intellectually curious and research proficient. The ultimate measure of success of this individual is the engagement level of clients within his/her portfolio and the renewal rates of clients within their portfolio.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Act as the strategic advisor to a portfolio of over thirty technology vendor clients
  • Define the value Eduventures can deliver to each individual client and develop short and long term engagement plans for each individual client
  • Leverage Eduventures research and advisors to execute on client engagement plans
  • Manage the ideation, planning and execution of client sponsored marketing initiatives such as custom webinars
  • Stay abreast of Eduventures research and be able to speak articulately to that research with clients
  • Partner with senior analysts to collaborate on client engagement
  • Share client feedback with senior analysts to help develop our research and advisory agenda
  • Partner with sales executives to win new business and strengthen relationships with current clients
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of team standards, processes and tools with the goal of constantly enhancing client engagement and membership renewal

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree required, Masters degree preferred

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Job Function:

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented team of product engineers. We’re building the next generation of our products, and we want someone with as much passion for the work as we have. If you absolutely love working with the MEAN stack, and have a solid foundation of software engineering skills, you may be the person we’re looking for.

You'll be working as part of a Scrum team, developing web apps and RESTful microservices with Docker on AWS. This is a hands-on role, working with other senior engineers, writing code, testing, and deploying the finished apps and libraries.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Create working, maintainable, and fast web apps, web service APIs, and libraries from product requirements and UX/UI designs, and in conjunction with other senior engineers.
  • Enhance, refactor, and continuously improve the codebase.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people.
  • Solve business needs with short-term deliverables, while constantly improving and moving towards long-term architectural goals.
  • Generate new ideas, never say or think "that's not my job."

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • 2+ years of experience developing with the MEAN stack - MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js. Angular 2 experience is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience developing on AWS and Linux.
  • Experience in RESTful service development on the Node platform. Experience with Docker and microservice architecture is a plus.
  • Ability to write idiomatic Javascript code.
  • Knowledge of Node performance techniques.
  • Familiarity with performance testing and tuning Node servers.
  • Good working knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration.
  • Python skills are a plus. We typically use Node for front-line servers, but we also use Python for server development.
  • Good understanding of OOAD, OOP, and design patterns.
  • An appreciation for pragmatism and simplicity in code.
  • A strong product and design sensibility.

Senior QA Engineer - SaaS, Web Services, Mobile

Job Function:

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented product engineering team. We’re building the next generation of our products, and we want someone with as much passion for the work as we have. If you absolutely love working with mobile and web apps, and have a solid foundation of software QA skills including test automation, you may be the person we’re looking for.

You'll be working as part of a Scrum team, testing web and native mobile apps, as well as the RESTful web services they interact with. This is a hands-on role, writing test plans, developing automated tests, and conducting manual testing.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Work with the scrum team to identify testing needs and opportunities.
  • Lead the team in development of automated test frameworks and test cases for functional and performance testing.
  • Lead the team in creation of manual test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Execute and report on the full testing suite of both manual and automated tests.
  • Generate new ideas, never say or think "that's not my job."
  • Be proactive in keeping your skills fresh.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of manual testing.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing using
    • TestComplete, Selenium, or similar tools
    • SoapUI, Postman, Jmeter, or other web service API testing tools
    • iOS and/or Android UI testing is a plus
  • Able to create clear, concise, detail-oriented test plans from specifications or verbal communications.
  • Experience testing for validation (“we built the right thing”) and verification (“we built it right”).
  • Working knowledge of Windows and macOS, all major web browsers, and iOS and Android mobile devices.
  • Programming experience appropriate for the task of developing automated tests.
  • Demonstrated pattern of going beyond your test plan when you see something that looks odd, to then understand why it behaved that way, and to see if a problem exists.

Education and Training:

  • BS Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certified Scrum Master is a plus.

Regional Director

Job Function:

The Regional Director will be responsible for using consultative and value-based sales techniques to understand prospective customer’s needs and recommend NRCCUA solutions in a compelling and strategic fashion. This position is responsible for managing existing client relationships and establishing new revenue opportunities via cold-calling, prospecting, and closing new business in Post-Secondary Education markets, particularly those with a prioritized interest in recruitment solutions. Conducting effective, efficient, and professional in-person, telephone, email, webinar communications to achieve performance metrics is essential and required.  This position will require 75% travel

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic sales plan and individual account tactics to effectively penetrate and identify business needs with ultimate decision makers. Exceed sales quota by creating and communicating the value of member services with prospective customers.
  • Proficient presentation abilities to small and large audiences either in-person, via conference call, and/or in web enabled environments using PowerPoint and other technologies.  Proficiency is defined as being a clear, concise, error-free, yet persuasive spoken and written communicator.
  • Ability to identify customer’s win-results by asking the best questions. Be able to identify customer needs and position product solutions that add value to the customer and set NRCCUA services above the competition.
  • Ability to engage multiple decision makers and drive consensus and secure commitment throughout all stages of the sales cycle.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with team members to ensure strong, positive, and profitable customer relations. Maintain a positive reputation and credibility during and after the initial sales process.

  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to travel to customer meetings, corporate trainings, and tradeshows.
