Senior Database Administrator

Job Function:

We're looking for a Senior Database Administrator to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented team of IT professionals. The role involves broad responsibility for data maintenance, monitoring, optimization and support. Additionally the Senior Database Administrator may be called upon to support database development efforts. The Senior DBA should be a thought leader who designs and develops processes and systems to improve efficiencies and effectiveness within the NRCCUA technical space.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Database server configuration and documentation; development, implementation and enforcement of database server configuration standards and processes
  • Database server administration, including monitoring and maintenance
  • Database analysis and optimization
  • Support for reporting and ETL activities as needed
  • System support for the development teams (database and application) with overflow database development tasks assigned as necessary
  • Design, configuration, implementation, optimization, and support of database servers and supporting devices.
  • Database backup and recovery configuration and monitoring. Disaster recovery plans, processes and testing
  • Database server security
  • Support of 3rd party data providers/drivers and applications related to database systems

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • 5+ years of configuring and supporting SQL Server 2008R2 and higher platform, including supporting modules (SSIS for ETL and other data-driven processes, SSRS for reporting support)
  • 4+ years of experience with the Microsoft Office platform, including the ability to create/manage reports within SharePoint
  • Clear understanding of SQL Server best practices for development of stored procedures, views, tables, security objects, indexes, etc.
  • 4+  years of work experience with ETL process development and support
  • 5+ years of experience configuring and maintaining high-availability database systems.
  • 3+ years of experience with Amazon Web Services cloud databases
  • Clear understanding of Windows security models and active directory configurations related to database systems
  • Bachelor’s degree related to computer science, software development or related field is required or an Associate’s degree with equivalent experience.
  • Appropriate certifications are encouraged
  • Administration of clustered SQL Server 2008R2 and greater installations, including Reporting and Analysis services.

Enrollment Professional Services Consultant

Job Function:

This position will provide strategic leadership to the implementation NRCCUA’s Data Lab SaaS solution and enrollment consultation for platform clients in the areas of enrollment strategy and data-driven marketing segmentation. This position is the cog in the wheel of complex enrollment analytics and marketing service strategies designed to assist member institutions effectively and efficiently meet enrollment objectives. This is accomplished by providing excellent project and account management and working directly with enrollment leadership to provide impactful consultative services.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Implement the NRCCUA Data Lab and provide strategic guidance to member institutions for list selection, funnel analysis, and enrollment marketing tactics.
  • Meticulous detail to on-time, on-budget implementation cycles for Data Lab implementation through use of communication and project management tools.
  • Design and ensure execution of effective solutions for maximum impact to member institutions.
  • Identify and monitor key metrics in enrollment marketing initiatives and work directly with members to meet their institutional objectives.
  • Communicate effectiveness of solutions to member institutions and within NRCCUA via reoccurring strategic briefs and physical or digital reports and visualizations.
  • Anticipate impact of, and act on, changes to marketing initiatives in regards to both NRCCUA and our member institutions. 
  • Analyze member institutions’ enrollment needs and assist sales in matching NRCCUA products to those needs.
  • Work with a cross functional team to maintain and make recommendations on the technology roadmap associated to delivery of enrollment services.
  • Have thorough understanding of current trends in enrollment management, enrollment metrics, data-driven enrollment decision making, and marketing strategies.
  • Present at regional and national conferences on data-driven enrollment management topics.
  • Design and execute webinars and professional development sessions for admission professionals within the objectives set forth by NRCCUA leadership.
  • Impact the lives of millions of college going students through partnerships with member institutions. 

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s degree required; master’s degree preferred
  • 8+ years of leadership in an Office of Admissions or Enrollment Management

Desired Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Enrollment technology implementation experience
  • Significant experience designing and executing complex, goal oriented, marketing campaigns
  • Ability to analyze and communicate multifaceted enrollment data to members

Senior Full-Stack Engineer

Job Function:

We’re looking for a Senior Full-Stack Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented team of product engineers. We’re building the next generation of our products, and we want someone with as much passion for the work as we have. If you absolutely love working with the MEAN stack, and have a solid foundation of software engineering skills, you may be the person we’re looking for.

You'll be working as part of a Scrum team, developing web apps and RESTful microservices with Docker on AWS. This is a hands-on role, working with other senior engineers, writing code, testing, and deploying the finished apps and libraries.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Create working, maintainable, and fast web apps, web service APIs, and libraries from product requirements and UX/UI designs, and in conjunction with other senior engineers.
  • Enhance, refactor, and continuously improve the codebase.
  • Communicate effectively with technical and non-technical people.
  • Solve business needs with short-term deliverables, while constantly improving and moving towards long-term architectural goals.
  • Generate new ideas, never say or think "that's not my job."
  • Be proactive in keeping your skills fresh.

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • 2+ years of experience developing with the MEAN stack - MongoDB, Express, Angular, and Node.js. Angular 2 experience is a plus.
  • 1+ years of experience developing on AWS and Linux.
  • Experience in RESTful service development on the Node platform. Experience with Docker and microservice architecture is a plus.
  • Ability to write idiomatic Javascript code.
  • Knowledge of Node performance techniques.
  • Familiarity with performance testing and tuning Node servers.
  • Good working knowledge of unit testing and continuous integration.
  • Python skills are a plus. We typically use Node for front-line servers, but we also use Python for server development.
  • Good understanding of OOAD, OOP, and design patterns.
  • An appreciation for pragmatism and simplicity in code.
  • A strong product and design sensibility.
  • BS Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.
  • Certified Scrum Master is a plus

Principal Analyst Technology Strategies

Job Function:

Eduventures, a division of NRCCUA is seeking a client-focused, analytical thinker who has a strong background in a wide-range of information technology (IT) products and services used by higher education institutions. The ideal candidate will have expertise designing and creating industry-leading IT thought leadership and research, be proficient at leading focused advising engagements for senior IT leaders at public and private institutions, and accustomed to viewing IT in a larger higher education context. This is an exciting opportunity for candidates seeking to apply their experience at a fast-paced, professional research and advisory services organization.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Advise clients within higher education institutions on key strategic and operational IT decisions, which may include, but is not limited to:
    • Determining the technical requirements to meet required business specifications for a new IT product.
    • Understanding the potential challenges associated with implementation of a technology system.
    • Defining the success factors for the selection, acquisition, and implementation of a technology system.
  • Develop and deliver actionable, leading-edge recommendations about IT products and services for clients.
  • Collaborate with researchers and consultants to:
    • Manage research and data collection to analyze key IT trends and challenges facing leaders of higher education institutions.
    • Support client research advisors and client sales teams in establishing and maintaining client relationships.
    • Represent Eduventures at higher education and technology-related industry events and to the media.
    • Design and execute a thought leadership agenda through research, conference presentations, and webinars.
    • Manage and deliver client-sponsored research and consulting projects.

Required Education or Formal Training:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required; Master’s Degree preferred.
  • Seven to ten years related work experience working for a technology provider serving the education market, working at a research/consulting firm, or working for a higher education institution.
  • Successful candidates will specifically have experience within one or more of the following areas: assessing the IT market, buying IT products and services, managing IT strategy for a higher education institution, or developing an education-focused technology product.
  • Strong analytical abilities and aptitude for using data to inform decision-making.
  • Strong qualitative and quantitative research skills.
  • Exceptional writing and presentation skills: ability to clearly scope and frame issues.

Senior QA Engineer - SaaS, Web Services, Mobile

Job Function:

We’re looking for a Senior QA Engineer to be a key member of a small, skilled, results-oriented product engineering team. We’re building the next generation of our products, and we want someone with as much passion for the work as we have. If you absolutely love working with mobile and web apps, and have a solid foundation of software QA skills including test automation, you may be the person we’re looking for.

You'll be working as part of a Scrum team, testing web and native mobile apps, as well as the RESTful web services they interact with. This is a hands-on role, writing test plans, developing automated tests, and conducting manual testing.

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Work with the scrum team to identify testing needs and opportunities.
  • Lead the team in development of automated test frameworks and test cases for functional and performance testing.
  • Lead the team in creation of manual test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
  • Execute and report on the full testing suite of both manual and automated tests.
  • Generate new ideas, never say or think "that's not my job."

Qualifications and Experience:

  • 5+ years of manual testing.
  • 2+ years of experience with automated testing using
    • TestComplete, Selenium, or similar tools
    • SoapUI, Postman, Jmeter, or other web service API testing tools
    • iOS and/or Android UI testing is a plus
  • Able to create clear, concise, detail-oriented test plans from specifications or verbal communications.
  • Experience testing for validation (“we built the right thing”) and verification (“we built it right”).
  • Working knowledge of Windows and macOS, all major web browsers, and iOS and Android mobile devices.
  • Programming experience appropriate for the task of developing automated tests.
  • Demonstrated pattern of going beyond your test plan when you see something that looks odd, to then understand why it behaved that way, and to see if a problem exists.

Education and Training:

  • BS Computer Science, Software Engineering or equivalent.

Regional Director

Job Function:

The Regional Director will be responsible for using consultative and value-based sales techniques to understand prospective customer’s needs and recommend NRCCUA solutions in a compelling and strategic fashion. This position is responsible for managing existing client relationships and establishing new revenue opportunities via cold-calling, prospecting, and closing new business in Post-Secondary Education markets, particularly those with a prioritized interest in recruitment solutions. Conducting effective, efficient, and professional in-person, telephone, email, webinar communications to achieve performance metrics is essential and required.  This position will require 75% travel

Description of Responsibilities:

  • Develop a strategic sales plan and individual account tactics to effectively penetrate and identify business needs with ultimate decision makers. Exceed sales quota by creating and communicating the value of member services with prospective customers.
  • Proficient presentation abilities to small and large audiences either in-person, via conference call, and/or in web enabled environments using PowerPoint and other technologies.  Proficiency is defined as being a clear, concise, error-free, yet persuasive spoken and written communicator.
  • Ability to identify customer’s win-results by asking the best questions. Be able to identify customer needs and position product solutions that add value to the customer and set NRCCUA services above the competition.
  • Ability to engage multiple decision makers and drive consensus and secure commitment throughout all stages of the sales cycle.
  • Ability to successfully collaborate and communicate with team members to ensure strong, positive, and profitable customer relations. Maintain a positive reputation and credibility during and after the initial sales process.

Must be proactive, motivated, and have impeccable time management skills.
  • A Bachelor’s degree in business, education, marketing or a related field.
  • Ability to travel to customer meetings, corporate trainings, and tradeshows.
