It is that time of year again, time for students to get back into the classroom. For most students, this can be a very stressful time: new schools, making new friends, new rules, new teachers, and so much more.
NRCCUA is working with Cornerstones of Care, a system of agencies in Kansas City that supports over 250 youth in the foster care system, to provide school supplies for students as they get ready to go back to school. This is just one way that we can help area students.
We were able to provide support for 20% of the students that Gillis, a member agency of Cornerstones of Care, supports. NRCCUA collected 50 backpacks, 55 packages of notebook paper, 104 pocket folders and other miscellaneous packages of crayons, markers, pens, dividers, erasers, spiral notebooks, etc.
On Friday, August 5th, we delivered all of the school necessities to Gillis. The students they serve will be able to select their own backpacks filled with supplies. We hope this helps to make the first day back to school the best one yet for our local youth!
NRCCUA encourages everyone to get involved with their communities to help create brighter futures. We can all make a difference, big or small, it takes us all. Stay tuned as we find new ways to help today’s youth reach their goals and find their passions.
